Hi everyone, 

Wonderful to meet our staff, clients, partners, and friends in New York.

Returning from a trip to New York at the start of the month, I have to say that I am more energised than usual. I usually make 2 or 3 visits a year to the US but was reduced by the pandemic. New York, like London, is returning to pre-pandemic normality and energy. I am profoundly grateful for all the time spent with staff, clients, partners, and friends, some of whom journeyed across state lines to see me and the London team. 

So wonderful to meet our staff, clients, partners, and friends in New York [May 2023].

The visit to New York takes me back to my early days as CEO and rekindles some relationships with our clients, which now seem strange after the lockdowns, old-fashioned face-to-face meetings. I listened to client needs and challenges, discussing how CJC can collaborate and assist with technology and a shortage of skillsets from the lack of new talent entering the market data industry. 

These in-person meetings were invaluable because it helps us continually improve the services provided by CJC and offer insightful feedback for future propositions. Watch this space! 

Paul Tomblin and I started CJC in 1999 as engineers, with the realisation that we were now respectively becoming CTOs and CEOs. Both of us enjoyed our new careers, and I found business development to be a highlight, especially when I introduced CJC and our services to new clients.

Back then, my trips to New York would generate 3-4 meetings daily, which is how this trip felt. Refreshing.

Paul Tomblin decided to hang up his keyboard and retire last year. We have completed all the transactions, and as of May 2023, I am now the proud sole owner of CJC.

Seeing our partners and our dedicated US team face-to-face was fantastic. Some of whom have been with us since 2012, and other new academy hires will shape CJC's future - thank you. The CJC academy scheme is a passionate project of mine, and I look forward to discussing further improvements, formats, and growth in future write-ups.

I would also like to celebrate the life of our beloved and sadly missed colleague, Sandra Villena, and say how honoured I am to meet her cousin, Rosa Loza. On behalf of Sandra’s parents in Cuba, Rosa accepted a lifetime achievement award for her work at CJC, by Waters Technology. 

While the London team and I were there, it was a pleasure to officially open CJC's new offices at the legendary Chrysler Building, right in the heart of New York. Having offices at such an iconic landmark is richly significant to me and everyone at CJC.

As the countdown begins to a quarter of a century - yes, 25 years of CJC supplying world-class market data services - it is humbling to say that I still enjoy my role as much now as I did when we first started. Thanks again to our clients, staff, partners, and friends.
