Keeping It Real (Time) – The Present

CJC was officially incorporated on Christmas Eve 1999, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey. From our humble, founder-funded beginnings to where we are today, our growth is a testament to the dedication of our global teams. This third instalment of our 4-part series looks at how our teams today drive our mission of delivering excellence in the market data sector.

Technical Operations and Engineering

CJC’s foundation is rooted in the technical side of market data and remains central to our daily activities. Two integral technical divisions, Operations and Engineering, ensure that our clients’ infrastructures run smoothly around the clock.

  • The Operations team provides 24/7 support across London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and New York using a follow-the-sun model to monitor systems and swiftly resolve issues. They maintain seamless operations and resolve events efficiently by performing start-of-day checks, real-time systems monitoring, and managing events and alerts. They are the watchtower that oversees a client’s technical operation by leveraging tools like ITRS Geneos, FreshService, ServiceNow, and Teams Chatrooms.
  • The Engineering team brings decades of market data expertise and handles complex challenges like infrastructure updates, system migrations, and new software integrations. They specialise in vendor-neutral, best-of-breed, advanced technologies like Cloud and AI, and solutions like RTDS, B-Pipe, and Solace. The Engineering team also manages the infrastructure of CJC’s Google Cloud Platform (supporting tools like ITRS and Mosaic), client applications, and connectivity.

Both teams follow ITILv4 standards, ensuring top-tier practices and results that meet, or exceed, client expectations.

Commercial Management

The Commercial Management team, led by Sara Baker, provides expert and vendor-neutral market data administration to clients worldwide. The team’s expertise spans multiple entitlements and provisioning tools like DACS and EMRS, and data inventory management tools like Calero MDSL, TRG Screen, etc. Underpinned by senior consultants, subject matter experts, and analysts, they provide professional services like:

  • Market data administration.
  • Invoice processing.
  • Inventory management
  • Audit support and cost reduction.

This team is committed to delivering high-value, bespoke client solutions, through long-term managed services, or short-term projects.

Account Management

Strong client relationships are a cornerstone of CJC’s success. Led by James Tate, the Account Management team is the bridge between CJC’s services and client satisfaction, ensuring solutions are implemented effectively.

Our account managers are passionate about the capital markets and often engage in industry events and panels. Their insights help CJC stay ahead of trends and reinforce our position as a trusted leader in the market.

Marketing

The Marketing team, led by Antony Fung, ensures that CJC’s latest news and accomplishments are effectively communicated to the broader industry. In 2024, the team was vital in securing new client wins and promoting CJC at major events. Working closely with Account Management, they capture client feedback and market trends to refine our messaging and deliver targeted campaigns.

Service Management and Delivery

Under CIO Gina Wee, the Service Management and Delivery teams ensure that CJC’s services consistently meet client expectations and service-level agreements (SLAs). They are aligned with ITILv4 frameworks, which provide a solid foundation for continuous service improvement.

Working closely with Peter Price, Global Head of Internal Services & Cloud Ops, key initiatives led by Gina include:

ISO 27001 certification and renewals since 2018.
• Compliance with DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act).
• Ongoing updates to CJC’s learning platform, KnowBe4, keeping staff up-to-date on technology and compliance standards.

Gina and Peter’s leadership ensures that CJC remains resilient, secure, and adaptable to meet evolving client needs.

Legal and HR

The Legal and HR teams led by Gemma Skipper, Global Head of Business Services, play critical roles in CJC’s day-to-day operations. The legal team manages key business agreements and ensures compliance with regulations, while the HR team supports employees through their tenure, handling everything from timesheets to internal training.

This year, CJC’s Legal and HR teams earned a DEI award, recognising our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Leadership Team

CJC’s leadership team, Paul Gow (Founder and CEO) and Yan Shih (COO) fosters a culture of open communication and agility. Together, the leadership team has been instrumental in overcoming challenges, such as navigating the pandemic in 2020 and ensuring alignment with CJC’s long-term vision.
